Unique Property Bulletin 24 March 2013

Still Here Despite It All

On a cheerful note – The Grave of Rob Roy MacGregor at Balquidder (c) 2008 Russ McLean.

As the fairly well known words on the plaque at the grave of Rob Roy immortalise – and we paraphrase slightly – at least we can say we are still here despite it all ! Broadband bu***red + webhost on main site (.co.uk) in meltdown + a house move. Trebble whammy. In spite of this, one of the sanctuaries, a constant in life just now, is the refuge of putting together this Bulletin for fellow property eccentrics. A BIG thankyou to the wonderful band of readers who have managed to find our current .org lifeboat website whilst the .co.uk is being messed up by the dubious Webhost UK Ltd. It is very reassuring that a loyal readership, well into five figures are still with us (and reader-numbers climbing again). We have taken an undoubted knock on the visitor-rate numbers from Webhost UK Ltd. This is sad and frustrating because February 2013 was the best month ever so far at over 24,000. Interesting for some computer dinosaurs here at the Unique Property Bulletin having only transferred from 3,500 paper versions to an online presence 14 months ago. The internet chap here is working hard to get our main website moved to the new web-service host and fully functional again. So hopefully the damage done by the current disruption will come right soon enough. For now we have a short Bulletin to keep things on the go.

Are You Receiving ?

Holme Hall, Burnley (c) 2013 Roy Pugh Auctioneers

This is a forlorn looking gem. Sadly the building has gone to the wall, and so now it seems the owner too. Might as well be called Receivership Manor. Now being sold by a financial institution.

There is clearly a bargain to be had, but you will also need to have deep pockets and be of brave heart. On 25th April 2013 this building, a.k.a., Holme Hall may become your very own stately pile. Just pop along to Manchester United Football Club, International Suite, West Stand, Sir Matt Busby Way, on the day, wave your paw in the air at the auctioneer, and you will be in a whole lot of mischief.

If you are eccentric enough to do this, please email us. You are our sort of person !!!

Holme Hall is located off Burnley Road (A646) in a rural location. Burnley town centre is approximately 4 miles to the north west. Junction 10 of the M65 motorway is approximately 4½ miles to the north west.

Auctioneer’s Narrative: Vacant detached Grade II* property which has been used for a variety of uses although the property has suffered fire damage and requires full renovation.

Some previous information can be found at…

Castle and Chapel House

Castle, Glenfinnan (c)2013 Macphee and Partners

An interesting property duet. Not far from the iconic Glenfinnan viaduct and monument either. These undernoted link are a montage of photos of the AREA. These are NOT views from the Castle and Chapel, but are shown to give a flavour of where you might end up living. Ther is also a little of the Harry Potter film locations to be seen, or should that be scene….

Photo Montage of the Glenfinnan area to explore from this property – Click Here

The Castle and Chapel are situated in an elevated position with stunning views to Loch Shiel, the subjects being sold form a charming detached dwellinghouse and derelict stone outbuilding – The Castle. Due to the location of the buildings, the successful purchaser could enjoy a fantastic family home with the potential to create a self catering business, with the development of The Castle (subject to all the necessary consents).

The historic village of Glenfinnan is located approximately 16 miles west of Fort William at the head of Loch Shiel. It was at Glenfinnan that Bonnie Prince Charlie raised the Standard in 1745 and in later years it is perhaps more famous for its viaduct and setting of the school as featured in the Harry Potter movies. The village itself has a church, hotels and restaurant, whilst offering many outdoor activities.

Cornwall Cornucopia

Gorgeous Location – East Quay, St Austell (c) 2013 Chesterton Humberts

For some reason we have gravitated to Cornwall in a significant way for this edition of the Bulletin. One of the pleasures from dipping into the big box of unusual places to live. This one also includes your own island. A very small island, but you join a rare club none the less. Well at least when the tide is out. High tide, and you may need wellies!

Agency Narrative: An outstanding marine development in a prime waterfront setting, commanding breathtaking views across the harbour and waters of St Austell Bay. Formerly known as Fraziers Yard, home to William Fraziers boat builders, Little Meva was purchased by Stone-House Design and Build Limited with a vision to create a selection of some of the finest coastal homes in the West Country.

All nine homes enjoy a variety of views over the ever busy harbour or stunning grandstand vistas directly out to sea. ‘The Island House, 4 Little Meva’ has the extremely rare benefit of owning Benny Island, a craggy outcrop of rock directly accessed from the newly built sun terrace with traditional seating areas honed out of the rock itself and a narrow pathway allowing access around the promontory – one for those of an adventurous nature and truly a rare and possibly unique opportunity.

Location: East Quay, Mevagissey, St Austell, Cornwall, PL26 6QQ

Tenure: Freehold.

Guide: £599,000

NEXT WEEK WE ARE MOVING PREMISES. WE SHALL DO OUR BEST TO UPLOAD A BULLETIN FOR 31 MARCH 2013, BUT PLEASE FORGIVE US IF WE END UP HAVING TO SKIP AN EDITION. NORMALITY OF SOME SORT SHOULD BE RESTORED FOR 7TH APRIL’S UNIQUE PROPERTY BULLETIN.
