Whilst we are having website server host issues, we need to keep our download volumes balanced with the number of readers. So for the time being will be illustrating each property with just the one photograph. We fully recommend visitors click onto the onward agency links. Often there are MANY more photographs to show you what each property has to offer.
Cheaper By The Dozen
Former School, Ashton Under Lyne (c) 2013 Gerald England
Today’s lesson from this former school: It may be cheaper buy the dozen. 1/10 for spelling error.
At an incredibly low guide of £90,000 we have what is, by any standards a formidable detached property. That it comes with (albeit a lapsed) planning consent for 35 flats, this is something to catch teacher’s eye.
This might be in the big boys and girls league, but it will be something to behold when completed. All for an initial bid starting around the ninety grand mark. What reckon you to the price each completed flat may go for?
Auctioneer’s Narrative: Three storey former school with planning consent for 35 apartments offered with vacant possession.
Planning consent was granted on the 8th December 2006 to convert the property into 35 apartments (23 x 1 bedroom and 12 x 2 bedroom) (Application Number 06/01496/FUL). This has subsequently been extended under Application Number 09/01042/FUL). Interested parties should consult direct with the Local Planning Office. Tameside Metropolitan Borough Council, Council Offices, Wellington Road, Ashton under Lyne, OL6 6DL. Tel: 0161 342 8355.
It might be worth having a look around here if you fancy studying this sizeable building in a little more detail…

Bargain On The Line
Former Telephone Exchange, Highland Scotland (c) 2013 Roy Pugh Auctioneers
Just a quick entry at a super bargain price of £5,000. Ideal for very remote contemplation. Really getting away from it all. Situated far, far away in the Scottish Highlands. Though if you want to go off-grid, maybe not too perfect, as this has more telephone copper wires in the vicinity than you are probably ever likely to be used to.
Even so, and interesting lot for someone, and at literally coppers in price. A fresh coat of white paint and a little TLC and it is ready to go. But what use?
We kind of had an idea a while back to buy half a dozen of these amongst several folk who own motor-homes. They would make an excellent places to visit, and be assured of a very cost effective location to base various holiday adventures from? Whilst having the luxury of electricity, a proper shower, electricity hook-up, and a small building housing those extra creature comforts that can be missing if you are exploring the Britain in your motor-home, and cannot quite find a suitable road lay-by to have a night’s kip at, that doesn’t have the usual “No Overnight Parking” sign.
Just a thought. If by any chance you might like to explore the idea of three to six motor home owners owning a small collection of these sorts of structure for the idea indicated above, please feel free to get in touch….

(our sister website email – whilst our main website is being sorted out)
A grand or two each to own one of these between 3 to 6 motor-home owners might just prove an interesting little adventure? May be possible to have a holding company own several jointly between a small syndicate of literal fellow-travellers. These former telephone exchanges come up for sale fairly often, and are usually in all four corners of the country. The initiative is to find a useful future purpose for them. Motor-home sanctuaries might be one such idea.
Anyways we have gone off message a bit here. Back to what is on offer at around £5,000.
Building Area: Approximately 28 sq m (301 sq ft).

Bargain Banffshire Barn
The Steading, Banffshire (c) 2013 Smiths Gore
Here we have a recent price reduction – a bargain barn in Banffshire. Sea view too. A traditional steading with full planning permission for sale.
The current planning consent for The Steading is for demolition and the construction of a new dwelling.
Though, of course for true unique property aficionados, there may be the desire for a buyer to amend the planning consent to incorporate some of the old parts, features and qualities of the original structure into a renovation project. Of course the services of an appropriate designer or architect may be needed.
Still, the price tag for almost a third of an acre, and with what appears to be a nice sea view is tempting.
Set in an elevated position with spectacular far reaching views over the Moray Firth. Williamston Steading enjoys a very private location and represents an excellent development opportunity to erect a one and a half storey house with double integral garage. The plot extends to about 0.3 acres.
The Farmhouse is NOT included. This additional building is also in a ruinous state. It is situated next to The Steading. The Farmhouse and The Steading are available at offers over £120,000. Buy one, get one similarly priced. BOGOSP ! Almost on par with a deal you can find at the supermarket.
Location: The Steading, Drybridge, Buckie, Banffshire, AB56 5JR.
Tenure: Feuhold (Scottish Equivalent of Freehold).
Guide: £65,000 = The Steading Barn (The Farmhouse is available for a similar amount).

Former Fisherman’s Cottage, Isle of Anglesey (c) 2013 Strutt & Parker
Not enough to have gone barmy, but we have now gone fishing. You will need to ask Dominic Sheppard at Strutt and Parker how to pronounce Llanfairpwllgwyngyll. That’s All Folks – For This Edition
We are still in our backup .org lifeboat website mode. Anyone considering running a website is very much advised to do this – it has kept us online during a turbulent period.
Hopefully, our MAIN website at .co.uk will be fully functional again soon. There is a growing amount of research material building up on that site as an online resource. This was pointed out to us just yesterday when we received a VERY welcome email from a chap who had spent several hours reading through the online archives that has built up. That is only 14 months of online material. Try moving 25 years worth of files with plenty of unusual places to call home. We just did. Over 80 boxes full, and all have sore backs to prove it! Hopefully the archive of material being built up online will be of help to you, our reader, in your endeavour to find that very special place.
For the time being, if you need to get in touch, our temporary contact page (whilst the main website is being transferred to a new webserver) is via our sister company …..
