A Little Lighthouse Life
Strathy Point Lighthouse: Seaview & Lochview (c) Peter Moore
Location: The Bothy, Strathy Point Lighthouse, By Thurso, Caithness & Sutherland, KW14 7RY.
Guide: Offers Over £45,000
Strathy Point Lighthouse Bothy formerly known as Strathy Occasional Lighthouse Keeper’s House represents a little taste of lighthouse life for not too much of a budget. Be careful though, the writer of this got sunburn and sunstroke here. This was entirely unexpected as quite a few Scots, and other nationalities think of the north coast as penguinland. However, in the midst of summer, due to the proximity to the Arctic Circle and the seasonal shift of the Earth’s axis, the sun can be very strong and last very long. Midsummer nights hardly get dark.
In essence a sublime place to live and stay.

London Underground Building Wanted
For A Cash Buyer
Doesn’t Look Much But Can Become A Wow Factor Home (c) Fiona Murray
This unique property wanted section may become a regular part of the Unique Property Bulletin given the number of emails received seeking the raw ingredients of unusual property to convert into a home. You cannot get more raw than the elemental former use of this style of structure.
As an example of what our reader is seeking – a few years ago we featured this amazing transformation of an old London underground loo to a brilliantly designed and refurbished city home by Laura Clark:
London Loo Home Conversion Article: Click Here
Once you get over the initial thoughts of the previous use – plus a deep clean and removal of the former functional excremental fixtures, the result, as exemplified by Laura are astounding.
Laura Clark’s Crystal Palace WC Building “Before” (c) Fiona Murray
There is something very cool about walking through London – or any other major UK city, and seeing what is regarded by many as a piece of street furniture – the access to an underground W.C., to discover it hides something exceptional and astounding.
Also the fact that this pad was bought in one of the most expensive cities in the world for a reported £65,000 with around £100,000 being spent on renovation, shows not just a very impressive architectural initiative, but especially shrewd business sense. We would conservatively estimate Laura’s Luxury Loo Life abode to be worth near on £450,000 now. Not a bad appreciation in value, even by London standards.
Laura Clark’s WC Building “After” (c) Fiona Murray
Which is why we suppose, a reader trawling through our old archived Bulletins has asked if we can find any other basic underground spend-a-penny structure – ready for conversion – to buy?

Unique Property Bulletin Websites
For Sale
Questions & Answers
Wow, what an amazing fortnight since we put the Unique Property Bulletin website up for sale.
There have been several questions. The most relevant actually provides an enigmatic answer. It used to be a big problem to live in a unique property, often times because unusual property is remote, and a significant distance from work. Now as long as any given unusual home has broadband, there may well be a livelihood to be grown from the Unique Property Bulletin. Especially the embryonic online estate agency element. Given that we made other estate agents around £36,000 in commission for them over the last year!
The question we have had most can be paraphrased: “Could the Bulletin and the sister company included in the sale – Unique Property Estate Agency sustain me in a job?”
We cannot guarantee this. But of the THREE elements included (1) The Unique Property Bulletin website is now established as can be seen in the details given, with over:-
1,162,091 Page Views
[as at 7 December 2014].
Previously….
1,095,434 Page Views
[as at 29 October 2014].
… and very important to note – a regular readership/network of unique property buyers, sellers, and interested readers, plus visitors such as journalists and radio broadcasters etc.. In just three years since transferring the paper format Bulletin to an online facility these numbers have gone from 3,000 to 30,000. So far.
Part (2) is the ability to assemble Unique Property Syndicates. Not for everyone as there is a risk/benefit element that any project manager and new Bulletin owner needs to exercise due diligence on. But the facts – impeccably verified by our solicitors – speak for themselves:-
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Unique Property Syndicates Late 1998 to Early 2000
Gross Profit £133,500
Profits Shared Amongst Syndicate Members By The Solicitor
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Unique Property Syndicates 2000 to 2001
Gross Profit £125,172
Profits Shared Amongst Syndicate Members By The Solicitor
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
[After The Second Year – Syndicates Operated Individually]
Solicitors formal statements can be viewed at:-
Unique Property Bulletin Websites For Sale Page 2 – Click Here
Then we have Part (3) of the Unique Property Bulletin package. The new embryonic estate agency. We would wish this to be much further advanced. Were it not for the current decrepitude of our founder and two volunteer members emigrating we would. Though it does appear that the direction of travel is in favour of online estate agency – witness Rightmove websites – from old fashioned High Street estate agents TOWARDS Online Estate Agency. By dint of good fortune, the Unique Property Bulletin has a reasonable presence in the internet search engines. This free to view Bulletin has, as mentioned, already made OTHER estate agents over £36,000 in the past one year. In fact such has been the goodwill that the Unique Property Bulletin has received “thankyou” donations from unique property sellers of well over £5,500 this last year without even asking, and without our own unique estate agency fully operational yet.
Also the structure of the new unique property estate agency is fairly advanced as exhibited in Part (3) of this sale package:-
Unique Property For Sale: Online Estate Agency: Click Here
Although there can be no guarantees, we believe the evidence exists that the structural change in the way people buy property is occurring. That the move away from traditional High Street estate agencies TO Online Estate Agents has positive momentum:-
Estate Agency Going Online Article: Click Here
To sum up our answer to the question: “Could the Bulletin and the sister company included in the sale – Unique Property Estate Agency sustain me in a job?” We believe the answer is: “ABSOLUTELY”.
The day-job of our founder was venture capital and helping newstart business. 100 new jobs created, amongst which ironically was helping a new High Street Estate Agency rise from an empty unloved old shop. It had to be nursed, but some 11 years on, there is still an estate agency employing staff where once there was closed down shell of a building.
Bulletin Spin Off Project – 2003: Refurbishing A Closed & Empty Shop
Into One Redolent With Opportunity & Still Employing Staff 11 Years Later
So the verdict from this end, with experience of reopening 20 closed buildings is that the internet has been part of the success for these projects. So in that vein we firmly believe a new ONLINE estate agency, with some professional guidance available from this end and other professional sources could and indeed should provide an opportunity to create a good internet business with a fine future.
Hopefully, we have helped to answer one of the main questions arising from the Unique Property Bulletin For Sale edition. For further details, statistics and information:-

Unique Property Competition
For this November + December month, the Unique Property Bulletin competition prize is:-
Balmoral Castle On A Note
This Is Our Modest Prize. Unless Requested, Payment Will Be Made By Cheque.
Competition Hint
“Lookout, The North Sea”
Can You Name This Unique Property ?
The first correct entry for the name of unique property – out of the hat – wins the prize.
PLEASE NOTE: The prize is NOT the building, just the £100. Sorry we haven’t reached the level of prize value that enables real buildings to be awarded to winners. Yet!
For our competition last month we found such an obscure unique building, we reckoned nobody would manage a correct answer and our prize fund was relatively safe. Should have known better. We have a lot of very good property sleuths reading the Bulletin. Nine correct answers came in. What an impressive array of unique property hunters out there.
So this time we are throwing down the unique gauntlet. We are running this competition for two months duration [November and December] so we can double the prize fund to £100. But we are also putting a property to identify which we think nobody will manage to guess.
So over to you.
Best wishes and good luck from the Unique Property Bulletin Team
Free to enter. Just let us know have your competition answer by 31st December 2014. Email free entries to:-

If this could be a bar/coffee shop, then why not a Laura Clark style home?
As for our reader who emailed asking for an old London loo underground, we couldn’t find anything in the capital city for you this month. Though you could write to Laura Clark (we have an address but out of respect to Laura, you will need to privately click here to email us for this). A timeous Christmas card with a polite enquiry to see if she is selling her home may be a good idea. Or even if just to seek the architectural services of Laura on another underground WC conversion when one comes up.
