Forts, Follies & Towers
A Wider Perspective: Tower For Sale In Full Glory
For this edition, as a result of wonderful readers sending in requests and filling our email inbox, we have had enquiries for forts, follies and towers. So as well as the regular listings in the Bulletin we have picked a few of the desired properties that are in flavour for our readers and include these in a slightly different formatted Feature Article section at the foot of the page. In essence a direct reply to our readers’ requests with very real answers. We hope seeker and seller may become uniquely united as a result.

Heads-Up: A Very Unique Bargain?
The Limeworks, Faversham Road, Kent, ME13 0SE
We recently featured this genuinely amazing property conversion a year or so ago at £3,750,000. It then came down to £2,950,000. Further reductions followed to £2,000,000. After this recent auction entry…
http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-45989254.html
…the price is well worth keeping an eye on. CONTRARY TO THE “Property Removed” advisory on the above weblink – at £1,500,000 – IT IS STILL FOR SALE. We recommend you note the auction wording: by order of the asset managers. It is reasonably clear where the price is headed, and Bulletin readers may secure one of the most fabulous conversions we have seen for a decade.

Ooops!
In amongst our emails, one reader has asked for some higher-end unusual properties to be featured – mentioning that we have had properties between £7,000 and around £250,000 in the last two editions of Unique Property Bulletin, so how about some balance!
We do try to cover all geographic areas of the UK and every price level, so in this edition we will hopefully feature some of the more substantial properties that can make we mortals weaken at the knees! This edition we have several of the style and genre featuring unusual buildings that our more well-healed property sleuths look toward acquiring.
Our next item is a cracker: A unique architect designed abode with seaviews…

Rock & Cantilever

Castle Heads-Up
Dornoch Castle Hotel, Castle Street, Dornoch, Sutherland, IV25 3SD
One of the functions of the Bulletin is to keep readers up to date with what is on the market and materially important, price movements. Over two years ago we featured this spectacular castle at Dornoch for sale:-
Previous Archived Details: Dornoch Castle – Click Here
[Dornoch Castle is the third listing down the page]
At that time it was guided at £2,500,000. Now the hotel has been reduced by a cool quarter of a million pounds to £2,250,000. Perhaps more can be shaved off? For the price of a luxury flat in London you can have a proper castle home. In addition also have an income and living which gifts a unique lifestyle into the bargain. From our own hotel owning adventures at the Bulletin some of the most interesting people we have met happened in via this style of establishment. We would heartily recommend it as a lifestyle choice. Anyways here is a castle for sale for our readers who love these amazing places.
The Guide Was £2,500,000. Now £2,250,000

Unique Property Bulletin Websites
& Related Entities – Heads Up – Advance Notice
Regretfully due to ongoing health issues by the founder, and the emigration of not one, but two helpers of our core group of writers, the Unique Property Bulletin is being offered for sale.
Ironically in this month, when we celebrate the third year online in what has been an amazing internet transition and transformation from the old paper format, and a publication that goes back to 1987, we have to consider the best way of ensuring the future of this facility and the associated elements which are the Unique Property Bulletin.
Of considerable importance is we do not want to let down those who, over the years, have bought and/or sold their amazing houses, rented, leased, and even just dreamed a little of what life can be like living in a unique building.
The next edition of Unique Property Bulletin will feature what exactly is for sale and the guide price sought. If you are interested, please keep an eye open for our next edition 23 November 2014. Thanks

Moated Castle – Melting Price?
Caverswall Castle, Blythe Bridge Road, Caverswall, Staffordshire, ST11 9EA
With thanks to our reader who asked for some higher end properties to be included within the main Unique Property Bulletin edition this time around. This is one example of what a little fishing finds, and we really enjoyed landing it to include in this edition. An absolutely fabulous piece of castle that has 18 bedrooms 9 reception rooms 13 bathrooms, and about 20 acres of land. Plus don’t forget the moat!
Caverswall Castle Picture (c) 1845 Samuel Hall Carter
Guide: £3,000,000.
Though if this type of home is your bag, please study some of the history. It was reportedly bought 2006 by property tycoon Robin MacDonald for £1,700,000. There have been some well reported “licensing” issues in the national press amongst other matters, so it may well be that Mr MacDonald might consider a little bit of negotiating if you are operating at that level.

Unique Property Competition
For this November 2014 + December 2014 month, the Unique Property Bulletin competition prize is:-
Balmoral Castle On A Note
[Unless Requested, Payment Will Be Made By Cheque].
Competition Hint
“Lookout, The North Sea”
Can You Name This Unique Property ?
The first correct entry for the name of unique property – out of the hat – wins the prize.
PLEASE NOTE: The prize is NOT the building, just the £100. Sorry we haven’t reached the level of prize value that enables real buildings to be awarded to winners. Yet!
For our competition last month we found an extremely obscure unique building. We reckoned nobody would manage a correct answer and our prize fund was relatively safe. We should have known better! There are a lot of very good property sleuths reading the Bulletin. Nine correct answers came in. What an impressive array of unique property hunters out there.
So this time we are throwing down the unique property gauntlet. We are running this competition for two months duration [November and December] so we can double the prize fund to £100. But we are also putting a property photograph to identify which we think nobody will manage to guess.
So over to you.
Best wishes and good luck from the Unique Property Bulletin Team
Free to enter. Just let us know have your competition answer by 31st December 2014. Email free entries to:-

Architecturally Unique
Normally we feature the unique work of an exceptional architect – for inspiration. These properties are generally not for sale. But this week we have an amazing architect designed house that is for sale:-
Steppingstone & Subterranea
Steppingstone, Hill Road North, Helsby, Frodsham, Cheshire, WA6 9AQ
This is a genuinely amazing and unique design. Please check out the weblink below that contains many interesting photographs of Steppingstone. In part the subterranean sophistication of the architectural brief stems from strictures of UK planning laws.
This property’s owner is a very successful haulier who is also one of the executive team at a company most folk in the UK will have heard of – Stobarts. So it is little wonder he has managed to translate that amazing drive in business to something of a similar high motivation in his architectural wishes:-
