UKWMO was established and funded by the Home Office and utilised its own premises which were mainly staffed by the Royal Observer Corps (ROC) – a uniformed full-time volunteer service.

The Royal Observer Corps was administered by the Ministry of Defence but mainly funded by the Home Office. The organisation was wound up and disbanded in November 1992.
Subsequently these underground bunkers were sold off.

Here at Unique Property Bulletin we have visited a few, and they can be a little claustrophobic. Though genuinely unique properties. We even bid on a couple in the 1990s at £5,000 and £6,000 but narrowly missed out. There has been a steady appreciation in price on these unusual underground bunkers over the years. Partially due to the strictly limited number built, and few that come onto the sale market.
